University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish Tickets Information

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are one of 16 teams in the Big East Conference - along with the Cincinnati Bearcats, Connecticut Huskies, DePaul Blue Demons, Georgetown Hoyas, Louisville Cardinals, Marquette Golden Eagles, Pittsburgh Panthers, Providence Friars, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, St. John's Red Storm, Seton Hall Pirates, USF Bulls, Syracuse Orange, Villanova Wildcats, and West Virginia Mountaineers.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are the National College Athletic Association (NCAA) men's football and basketball teams for the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, one of 9 private universities and one of 8 Catholic universities in the Big East.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish play their football home games at the 80,795 seat Notre Dame Stadium and their basketball home games at the 11,418 seat Edmund P. Joyce Center. The team uniform colors are blue and gold, and the mascot is the leprechaun.

Football:

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish, established in 1887, are considered one of the most successful NCAA football teams in the nation. They have achieved an 831-284-42 record overall, have won the most consensus national championships (11), and produced more All-Americans than any other school. Notre Dame is one of two Football Bowl Subdivision schools that is Catholic, the other being Boston College.

Coach Charlie Weis is heading into his fifth year at the helm in Notre Dame. Overall, he has a 29-21 record since joining the team, and although he is one of the more well-known coaches in the league, he is probably better known for being the offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots from 2000 to 2005. He assisted the Pats in winning three Superbowls before leaving to coach the Fighting Irish.

Despite having the third most wins in NCAA football history, and the second highest winning percentage (.736), Notre Dame has not had much success in bowl games. They have played to a 14-15 record, but before winning the 2008 Hawaii Bowl, they had lost nine bowl games in a row.

There are many current NFL players that began their careers in Notre Dame. These include John Carlson and Julius Jones (Seattle Seahawks), Brady Quinn (Cleveland Browns), Justin Tuck (New York Giants), David Givens (Tennessee Titans), Ryan Grant (Green Bay Packers) and Arnaz Battle (San Francisco 49ers).

The Fighting Irish completed the 2008 season with a 7-6 record. This represents a large improvement from the 3-9 record that Notre Dame finished with in 2007. Get your tickets today and watch them become one of the best NCAA football teams once again.

Basketball:

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a number of school heroes in their previous rosters including: Austin Carr (formerly of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Dallas Mavericks), Adrian Dantley (formerly of the Utah Jazz), Pat Garrity (formerly of the Orlando Magic), Bill Hanzlik (former player on the Seattle Supersonics and played on and coached the Denver Nuggets), Orlando Woolridge (played on 7 NBA teams), Bill Laimbeer (formerly with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Denver Pistons, and former women's head coach of the Detroit Shock), Troy Murphy (Indiana Pacers), John Paxson (formerly on the San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls, current VP of operations for the Chicago Bulls), Kelly Tripucka (formerly on the Utah Jazz, Detroit Pistons, and Charlotte Hornets), Ray Meyer, and Basketball Hall of Fame coaching legend Moose Krause.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have never won a Big East tournament title or a Big East regular season title. They have made 27 NCAA Championship appearances and NIT (National Invitation Tournament) appearances, making it to 1 Final Four.

For 10 seasons now (since 2000), the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have been coached by Mike Brey, who before that coached the University of Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens for 5 years. Since joining the Fighting Irish, Brey has generated an overall record of 188-101 (.651).

In 2008-09 the Notre Dame Fighting Irish finished with a 8-10 record in the Big East and 21-15 in the NCAA. Get your Notre Dame Fighting Irish tickets now and see if they can recapture some of their past glory.
