University of Cincinnati Bearcats Tickets Information

The Cincinnati Bearcats are one of 16 teams in the Big East Conference - along with the Connecticut Huskies, DePaul Blue Demons, Georgetown Hoyas, Louisville Cardinals, Marquette Golden Eagles, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Pittsburgh Panthers, Providence Friars, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, St. John's Red Storm, Seton Hall Pirates, USF Bulls, Syracuse Orange, Villanova Wildcats, and West Virginia Mountaineers.

The Cincinnati Bearcats are the National College Athletic Association (NCAA) men's football and basketball teams for the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio, one of 7 public universities in the Big East. The Bearcats joined the Big East Conference on July 1, 2005, having formerly been founding members of Conference USA, having come before that from the Metro Conference (1975-1991) and Great Midwest (1991-1995).

The Cincinnati Bearcats play their football home games at the 35,098 seat Nippert Stadium and their basketball home games at the 13,176 seat Fifth Third Arena (aka the Shoemaker Center). The team uniform colors are red and black, and the mascot is, predictably, the Bearcat.

Football:

Since its first season in 1885, the Cincinnati Bearcats have compiled a 536-541-51 record with a 6-5 record in postseason bowl games. They have also earned 10 conference championships and are the Big East defending champions with their latest title in 2008.

Cincinnati has a proud football history, possibly including playing in the first bowl game ever. Although the NCAA recognizes the 1902 Rose Bowl game as the first collegiate bowl game, records indicate that Cincinnati appeared in a bowl game five years earlier after players from the LSU football team challenged the Bearcats to a game.

Coach Brian Kelly is entering his 3rd with the team and has had a wealth of success since obtaining the position. In 2007, his first season, Kelly’s team compiled a 10-3 record overall, marking the 2nd season ever in which the Bearcats achieved 10 wins. At the end of the season, the Bearcats were ranked 17th in the AP poll, the first time in history that the team earned a spot in the final polls. In 2008, Kelly led the team to an 11-2 season and its first Big East Championship. They finished the season ranked number 17th in the AP poll once again.

The Bearcats are a force to be reckoned with. Be their home field advantage and purchase your tickets today.

Basketball:

The Bearcats have a heated rivalry with the Xavier Musketeers of Xavier University, a Jesuit university also in Cincinnati, and a member of the Atlantic Ten Conference. The Bearcats-Musketeer's men's basketball rivalry is played out annually in the Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout.

In the 11 seasons ending 2004-05, the Cincinnati Bearcats were regular season champions 9 times, 8 with Conference USA and 1 with Great Midwest. They were Conference USA tournament champs 4 times. They won 2 consecutive NCAA Championships, in 1961 and 1962, both against the Ohio State Buckeyes. They have yet, however, to win a Big East tournament title or a Big East regular season title, though they appeared in 14 straight NCAA tournaments, including the Final Four in 1992 and three Elite Eight appearances.

Currently in his fourth season as head coach of the Cincinnati Bearcats is Mick Cronin, former Ole Miss Rebels and Murray State Racers head coach. A Cincinnati alumnus himself, graduated in 1998, he was previously the assistant coach of the Bearcats under one of the team's most accomplished coaches Bob Huggins.

In 2008-09 the Cincinnati Bearcats finished with an 8-10 record in the Big East and 18-14 in the NCAA. Get your Cincinnati Bearcats tickets now and see what this team can pull off this year.
