Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tickets Information
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of 4 teams in the National Football Conference South Division (NFC South) – along with the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, and New Orleans Saints – and one of 16 teams in the NFC which in turn is one of the two conferences in the National Football League (NFL).
The team known fondly to its fans as the “Pewter Pirates” and the “Bucs”, the Buccaneers have been playing football as part of the NFL since 1976 when, for that one year, they were part of the AFC West. From 1977, the Bucs have been a part of the NFC, starting out in the NFC Central all the way up to 2002 when they switched to the NFC South.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have won 3 NFC Central Division championships (1979, 1981, 1999), 3 NFC South Division championships (2002, 2005, 2007) and 1 NFC conference championship (2002). Since the advent of the Super Bowl, the Buccaneers have played in 1 Super Bowl, which they won – Super Bowl XXXVII in 2003 beating the Oakland Raiders 48-21.
Until 1998, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers played their home games at Tampa Stadium but now they play all they’re home games at the 66,000+ seat Raymond James Stadium (aka “Ray Jay”, “The New Sombrero”, “The CITS”), also home to the NCAA team the USF Bulls and the annual NCAA Outback Bowl. The Buccaneers’ uniform colors are pewter, Buccaneer red, orange, and black, and their mascot is named Captain Fear.
They are currently under the leadership of head coach Raheem Morris who had been a part of the Buccaneers’ coaching staff between 2002 – 2007. Morris then had a brief stint as the defensive coordinator with the Kansas State Wildcats college football team, but returned to the Bucs in 2008 to become the defensive backs coach before being promoted
A number of Buccaneers have earned their way into the pro football history books, including NFL Hall of Famers defensive end Lee Roy Selmon and quarterback Steve Young. Three Pewter Pirates were honored by being sent to this year’s 2007 Pro Bowl, those being tight end Dave Moore, cornerback Ronde Barber, and outside linebacker Derrick Brooks.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers finished out 2008/2009 with a .563 regular season record (9 wins, 7 losses). Get your Tampa Bay Buccaneers tickets and see if they can turn up the heat this year.
