The only major league team in any sport to call the capital of Canada home, the Ottawa Senators were formed in 1992 as one of two expansion teams that year, the other being the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Ottawa Senators Tickets Information
Since then, the Senators have won four Northeast Division Championships including, most recently, during the 2005-06 season.
Lately however, the Senators have been a team in transition. For the first time since 1995-96, the Senators did not qualify for the playoffs. Former coach Craig Hartsburg was fired by general manager Brian Murray, and replaced with Cory Clouston, who helped the Senators field a more competitive team in the second half of last season.
Since 1999, the Ottawa Senators have been going strong thanks in part to the leadership of team captain Daniel Alfredsson, winner of the Calder Trophy his rookie year and a 5-time All-Star. Alfredsson has played in four World Championships, winning the bronze twice and the silver twice, and two Winter Olympics, winning the gold in Turin in 1996.
Alfredsson has been one of the only constants on a team that has gone through many changes. The Sens are banking on the newly-acquired Pascal Leclaire to provide solid goaltending behind an overhauled defensive core. Star players Zdeno Chara, Joe Corvo and Wade Redden have left gaps on defence due to their departures over the last few years. The Senators now rely on Filip Kuba, Anton Volchenkov, Chris Phillips, Chris Campoli and Alexandre Picard to provide the defence.
On offence, Alfredsson is joined by the likes of Jason Spezza, and the newly acquired Alexei Kovalev. When Kovalev is on his game, he is easily one of the most dangerously effective, talented forwards in the NHL and the Senators are expecting him to bring it on a nightly basis. At 36 years of age, he will be depended on to provide most of the Senators’ scoring punch this upcoming season.
The Ottawa Senators play their home games at Place Banque Scotia (as the French speaking natives call it) or Scotiabank Place (also known as Corel Centre) with a seating capacity of nearly 20,000 hockey fans.
