Milwaukee Brewers Tickets Information
Not to be confused with the Milwaukee Brewers of the early 1900s that ultimately became the Baltimore Orioles, today’s Milwaukee Brewers were established as a Major League Baseball team in 1969 and, after a 1-year stint as the Seattle Pilots, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin since 1970.
Nicknamed “The Crew”, “The Brew Crew”, and “The True Blue Brew Crew”, the Milwaukee Brewers are 1 of 6 teams – along with the St. Louis Cardinals, the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Milwaukee Brewers, the Houston Astros, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Chicago Cubs – that play in the Central Division of the 16-team National League.
But they haven’t been in the Central Division the whole time, nor the National League, starting out with the American League West Division (1969-1971), then heading to the East Division (1972-1993), and then to the Central Division (1194-1997) before finally switching to the National League in their Central Division, making them the only team to have played at least 1 full season in 4 different divisions.
On April 7, 1970 the Milwaukee Brewers played their first game against the California Angels. The won their first game on April 11, 1970 against the Chicago White Sox, 8-4.
Since 2001 the Milwaukee Brewers have played their home games at Miller Park, and they conduct Spring Training at Maryvale Baseball Park in Phoenix, Arizona as part of the Cactus League. The team uniform colors are gold, midnight blue, and white.
The Brewers have an ongoing in-league rivalry with the Chicago Cubs played out each year in the I-94 Series, and an interleague rivalry with the Minnesota Twins played out each year in the Border Battle.
In their career, the Milwaukee Brewers have won 1 Wild Card Berths (this past year in 2008), no Central Division titles or World Series titles (though they did compete in 1 World Series, in 1982 against the reigning champions as of 2006, the St. Louis Cardinals). They won 1 American League pennant, in 1981.
The Milwaukee Brewers have a number of legends in their previous rosters, including 2-time MVP of the Year Robin Yount, 1981 MVP and Cy Young Award winner Rollie Fingers, and 2-time All-Star Richie Sexson.
Overall, 5 Milwaukee Brewers have been inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame: Hank Aaron, Rollie Finers, Don Sutton, Robin Yount, and most recently Paul Molitor in 2004.
In 2008, the Milwaukee Brewers finished 1st in the division, posting 93 wins and 69 losses. Pick up your Milwaukee Brewers tickets today and see how well they fare this season.
