Cleveland Browns Tickets Information

The Cleveland Browns are one of 4 teams in the American Football Conference North Division (AFC North) – along with the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, and Pittsburgh Steelers - and one of 16 teams in the AFC which in turn is one of the two conferences in the National Football League (NFL).

The Browns got their start back in 1946 as charter members of the Western Division of the All-America Football Conference. While part of the AAFC, until moving over to the NFL in 1950, the Browns won all 4 championships. During that time they also boasted an undefeated season, 1948.

The Cleveland Browns joined the American Conference of the NFL in 1950, switching to the Eastern Conference in 1953 and the Century Division in 1967. The Cleveland Browns then moved in 1970 to the American Football Conference, Central Division (AFC Central) until 1995.

In 1950, the Browns beat the Los Angeles Rams 30-28 for that year’s NFL championship title. They appeared again at the NFL championships the following 5 years in a row, losing 3 times consecutively (first to the team they had just beaten, the Los Angeles Rams, and then twice concurrently to the Detroit Lions), then winning twice, beating both rivals concurrently, the Detroit Lions 56-10 in 1954 and the Los Angeles Rams 38-14 in 1955. Then, just two years later, in 1957, they squared off against the Detroit Lions at the NFL championships once again, and lost. They were NFL champs again in 1964, beating the Baltimore Colts, and lost the NFL championship the following year, 1965, to the Green Bay Packers. In 1968 and 1969 they appeared in two more NFL championships, losing both. That makes, between 1933 and 1969, 11 NFL championship appearances for the Cleveland Browns, with 4 wins and 7 losses.

From 1996-98 the Cleveland Browns suspended operations as then-owner Art Modell announced his intentions to move the team to Baltimore, Maryland (to become, presumably the Baltimore Browns). A vicious legal battle ensued, and the city of Cleveland got to keep their team name, colors, etc. Modell moved the actual team as planned and renamed them the Baltimore Ravens.

When the “new and improved” Cleveland Browns came onto the field in 1999, they came back as part of the same AFC Central division, until 2002 when they joined the northern division (AFC North) where they remain today.

The Cleveland Browns are 1 of only 5 teams in the NFL never to have appeared in a Super Bowl, the others being: the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, and New Orleans Saints. And the city of Cleveland is the only one with an NFL team that not only has never played in a Super Bowl, but also has never hosted one.

The Cleveland Browns play their home games at Cleveland Browns Stadium. The team uniform colors are burnt orange, seal brown, and white.

They are currently under the leadership of new head coach Eric Mangini, fresh off his head coaching stint with the New York Jets.

The Cleveland Browns finished out 2008/2009 last in the division with a .250 regular season record (4 wins, 12 losses). Get your Cleveland Browns tickets and see them strive for better this year.
