Baylor University Bears Tickets Information
The Baylor Bears are one of 12 teams in the Big 12 Conference and one of 6 - along with the Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Texas Longhorns, Texas A&M Aggies, and Texas Tech Red Raiders - that play in the South Division.
They are one of 4 teams from the state of Texas in the Big 12 Conference, the others being the Longhorns, the Aggies, and the Red Raiders. Before joining the Big 12 in 1997, the Bears were charter members of the Southwest Conference from its start in 1914 until it dissolved in 1996. The Bears men's basketball team is one of the university's 16 varsity teams.
The Baylor Bears play their home basketball games at the 10,284 seat Ferrell Center, and their football games at the 50,000 seat capacity Floyd Casey Stadium. The team uniform colors are green and gold, and the mascot is Judge the Bear.
Football:
The Baylor Bears have a number of school heroes in their previous rosters. In football, the Baylor system has produced stars such as Mike Singletary. The Baylor Bears football team has never won a Big 12 championship, but has won seven championships in different former conferences, the latest in 1994.
There are eight players in the NFL currently that are a product of Baylor’s football system such as Matt Bryant of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bears are coached by Art Briles. He coached the team to a disappointing 4-8 record in 2008, his first year as coach. Get your Bears tickets now and see if they can turn it around this season.
Basketball:
The Baylor Bears basketball system has produced six All-Americans - Hubert Kirkpatrick, Earl "Pete" Creasey, Jack Robinson, William Chatmon, Vinnie Johnson, Terry Teagle - and two who've gone on to the NBA (National Basketball Association) - Brian Skinner (L.A. Clippers) and David Wesley
The Baylor Bears have never won a Big 12 tournament title or a Big 12 regular season title. They have never won an NCAA Championship, but they do boast what's reputed to be one of the top moments in Big 12 championship history, beating #7 ranked Iowa State 62-49 in round 2 of the 2001 championships. They made it to the Final Four in 1948 and 1950. In 100 years of play, the Bears' all-time record is 1,058 wins and 1,218 losses (.464).
Since 2003, the Baylor Bears have been coached by Scott Drew. In his career, he has had two postseason appearances. Drew did it once with the Valporaiso Crusaders in 2003, and then led the Bears to the big tournament in 2008.
In 2008-09 the Baylor Bears finished ninth in the Big 12 Conference, posting 5 wins and 11 losses (.313), with an overall 2008-09 NCAA record of 24 wins and 15 losses (.615). Pick up your Baylor Bears tickets now and watch them shoot for a better inter-conference record this year.
