Houston Astros Tickets Information

Nicknamed "The 'Stros", the Houston Astros are a Major League Baseball team established in 1962, and based in Houston, Texas. Starting out as the Houston Colt .45's, they became the Astros we know them to be today in 1965.

The Houston Astros are one of six teams - along with the St. Louis Cardinals, the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Milwaukee Brewers, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Chicago Cubs - that play in the Central Division of the 16-team National League.

After calling the Houston Astrodome their home for 34 years, in 2000, the Houston Astros moved their home games to Enron Field, later named Minute Maid Park, but known to most as Astros Field. The team conducts Spring Training at Osceola County Stadium in Kissimmee, Florida as part of the Grapefruit League. The team uniform colors are black, brick red, and "sand".

The Astros have an ongoing in-league rivalry with the St. Louis Cardinals, who beat them out in 2006 for first place in the division. and an interleague rivalry with the Texas Rangers played out each year in the Lone Star Shootout.

In their career, the Houston Astros have won 2 Wild Card Berth (in 2004 and 2005), and 4 Central Division titles (their first in 1997, their last in 2001). Between 1980 and 2008, they've competed in 9 playoffs, winning only 1 National League pennant.

In 2005 they played in their only World Series, hosting the first World Series game in MLB history to ever be played in the state of Texas. They lost to the Chicago White Sox 4-0.

The Houston Astros have a number of legends in their previous rosters, including multiple-time Gold Gloves winners Brad Ausmus, Craig Biggio, Cesar Cedeno, and Doug Rader, 2005 All-Star and Silver Slugger winner Morgan Ensberg, and 1994 MVP Jeff Bagwell. Another claim the Astros have fame is that they're also the only MLB team to have had all three of the top 3 on the all-time strikeout list - Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, and Nolan Ryan - on the team. Overall, 6 former Houston Astros players and 1 manager have been inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame, most recently Don Sutton.

In 2008, the Houston Astros finished third in the division, posting 86 wins and 75 losses. Don't be caught short without your entry to what will surely be some of the fiercest baseball this year, as the 'Stros try to take the championship title away from the Phillies. Don't delay - get your Houston Astros tickets right away!
