New York Mets Tickets Information

In fact many a New Yorker will swear that if those aren't New York Mets tickets in your hand, then you're not a "real" New York baseball fan.

That neverending debate aside, the New York Mets are a Major League Baseball team established in 1962 and based in Flushing in Queens, New York. The New York Mets are 1 of 5 teams - along with the Atlanta Braves, the Florida Marlins, the New York Mets, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Washington Nationals - that play in the East Division of the 16-team National League.

The New York Mets played their first game on April 11, 1962 against the St. Louis Cardinals and lost 11-3. Their first win was on April 23, 1962 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, 9-1.

The Mets, like their other New York counterparts, unveiled a brand new stadium this year in the form of Citi Field. Before this, the Mets played for 45 years at Shea Stadium. The team conducts Spring Training at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida as part of the Grapefruit League. The team uniform colors are orange and blue.

The Mets have a vicious rivalry known as the Subway Series with their American League neighbors, the New York Yankees. The NY Mets also have an ongoing in-league rivalry with the Atlanta Braves.

In their career, the New York Mets have won 2 Wild Card Berths (in 1999 and 2000), 5 Eastern Division titles (their first in 1969, their last just this past year in 2006), and 4 National League pennants (their first in 1969, their last in 2000).

They've played in 4 World Series and won 2: in 1969 against the Baltimore Orioles, and in 1986 against the Boston Red Sox.

The New York Mets have a number of legends in their previous rosters including Baseball Hall of Famers Gary Carter and Tom Seaver. The Mets were also blessed to have had the amazing Yogi Berra as both a player (catcher, 1965) and a manager (1972-1975).

In 2008, the New York Mets finished second in the division, posting 89 wins and 73 losses. Grab your New York Mets tickets now and see if they can take the division title this year.
