Minnesota Twins Tickets Information

Nicknamed the "Twinkies", the Minnesota Twins are a Major League Baseball team established in 1901 as, alternately the Washington Nationals and the Washington Senators, and based in the Minneapolis - St. Paul, Minnesota area as the Minnesota Twins since 1961. The Minnesota Twins are 1 of 5 teams - along with the Detroit Tigers, the Chicago White Sox, the Cleveland Indians, and the Kansas City Royals - that play in the Central Division of the 14-team American League.

Since 1982 the Minnesota Twins have played their home games at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome (aka the Homerdome). It is their 6th home stadium and in May of 2006 the city gave its thumbs up for the construction of a 7th - a brand new home stadium for the Twins, built on downtown Minneapolis's north end. Ground is expected to break in the summer of '07, and the first Minnesota Twins tickets for this new home stadium should be available for games starting in 2010.

The Twins conduct Spring Training at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers, Florida as part of the Grapefruit League.

The Minnesota Twins have a number of ongoing in-league rivalries: with the Chicago White Sox, the Cleveland Indians, and the Oakland Athletics. They also have an interleague rivalry called the Border Battle with the Milwaukee Brewers.

In their career, the Minnesota Twins have not won any Wild Card Berths, 4 Western Division titles (their first in 1969, their last in 1991), 4 Central Division titles (their first in 2002, their last in 2006), and 6 American League pennants (their first in 1924, their last in 1991).

They've won 3 World Series: in 1924 (as the Washington Senators) against the New York Giants, in 1987 against the St. Louis Cardinals, and in 1991 against the Atlanta Braves.

The Minnesota Twins have a number of legends in their previous rosters, including several Minnesota Twins who have been inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame, at least in part on the basis of their achievements in either the Twins or the Nationals/Senators (or both), including Rod Carew, Harmon Killebrew, and the late Kirby Puckett.

The Twins’s best season was 1965, with a 102-60 record. Their worst season (as the Twins) was 1982, with a 60-102 record.

In June of 2006 the Twins became the first team ever to sweep all 3 of the MLB Pitcher of the Month, Player of the Month, and Rookie of the Month awards.

In 2008, the Minnesota Twins finished 2nd in the AL Central with an 88-75 record. Stake claim on some Minnesota Twins tickets fast before they all sell out, as everyone is eager to see if they can make a run this year.
