Detroit Tigers Tickets Information

The Detroit Tigers are a Major League Baseball team established in 1901, and based in Detroit, Michigan. The Detroit Tigers are 1 of 5 teams - along with the Minnesota Twins, the Chicago White Sox, the Cleveland Indians, and the Kansas City Royals - that play in the Central Division of the 14-team American League. The Detroit Tigers played and won their first game on April 25, 1901, against the Milwaukee Brewers, 14-13.

Since 2000 the Detroit Tigers have played their home games at Comerica Park, built to replace the original Tigers Stadium, and located next door to the home of the Detroit Lions, Ford Field. The Tigers conduct Spring Training at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, Florida as part of the Grapefruit League. The team colors are navy blue, orange, gray, and white.

The Detroit Tigers have an ongoing in-league rivalry with the Toronto Blue Jays, the Cleveland Indians, and the Chicago White Sox. They also have inter-league rivalries with teams in the Central Division of the National League, most notably: the Chicago Cubs, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Cincinnati Reds.

In their career, the Detroit Tigers have won 1 Wild Card Berth (in 2006), 3 East Division titles - yes East, they have yet to win in the Central Division - (their first in 1972, their last in 1987), and 10 American League pennants (their first in 1907, their last in 2006). They've played in 9 World Series and won 4: in 1935 and 1945 against the Chicago Cubs, in 1968 against the St. Louis Cardinals, and in 1984 against the San Diego Padres.

Overall, 22 former Detroit Tigers players have been inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame based at least in part on their performance with the Tigers, among them batting Triple Crown winner Ty Cobb and pitching Triple Crown winner Hal Newhouser.

In 2008, the Detroit Tigers finished 5th in the division, posting 74 wins and 88 losses. Pick up your Detroit Tigers tickets now and see if they can take the top spot this year.
