Tampa Bay Rays Tickets Information

The Tampa Bay Rays are a Major League Baseball team established in 1998, and based in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Tampa Bay Rays are 1 of 5 teams - along with the Baltimore Orioles, the Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees, and the Toronto Blue Jays - that play in the Eastern Division of the 14-team American League. The Tampa Bay Rays played their first game against the Detroit Tigers on March 31, 1998. Their first win was against the same team the following day.

Since their founding, the Tampa Bay Rays have played their home games at the 44,000+ Tropicana Field (originally known as the Florida Suncoast Dome, and then the Thunderdome), and they conduct Spring Training at Progress Energy Park, also in St. Petersburg, as part of the Grapefruit League. The Rays colors are grey, green, black, and white.

The Rays have an ongoing interleague rivalry with the Florida Marlins known as the Citrus Series. In their career, the Tampa Bay Rays have yet to win any Wild Card Berths, but took the AL East Division title away from the mighty Yankees and Red Sox in 2008. 2008 also brought an AL Pennant and a World Series loss to the resurgent Rays.

Numerous former Tampa Bay Rays include All-Stars Danys Baez, Lance Carter, Randy Winn, Greg Vaughn, Fred McGriff, Jose Canseco, Roberto Hernandez, and Rolando Arrojo. One former Tampa Bay Rays player has been inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame: 12-time All-Star third baseman Wade Boggs, inducted in 2005.

Excitement for the Rays is mounting. In 2008, the Rays finished first in the AL East with a 97-65 record, including an AL Pennant and an unfortunate loss to the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series. Get your Tampa Bay Rays tickets now and see if they can improve their game this year.
