San Diego Padres Tickets Information

Nicknamed "The Friars", the San Diego Padres are a Major League Baseball team established in 1969, and based in San Diego, California. The San Diego Padres are 1 of 5 teams - along with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Colorado Rockies, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the San Francisco Giants - that play in the West Division of the 16-team National League. The San Diego Padres played their first game on April 8, 1969 against the Houston Astros, and lost 2-1. The Padres won their first game the very next day against the very same team 2-0.

After playing home games at the Jack Murphy Stadium for 34 years, in 2004 the San Diego Padres moved home base to PETCO Park. The team conducts Spring Training at Peoria Sports Complex in Peoria, Arizona (the same as where the Seattle Mariners train) as part of the Cactus League. The team uniform colors are khaki, navy blue, and white.

The Padres have ongoing in-league rivalries with the St. Louis Cardinals and fellow Californians the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers. They also have an interleague rivalry with the Texas Rangers.

Though the San Diego Padres have not won any Wild Card Berths in their career, they have won 5 West Division titles, most recently in 2006. They've also won 2 National League pennants (in 1984 and 1998). They've played in 2 World Series and won none, making them the only team to win more than 1 pennant and no World Series.

The San Diego Padres have a number of legends in their previous rosters, including 4-time Silver Slugger Benito Santiago, Cy Young Award winners Mark Davis and Randy Jones, and 1996 MVP of the year Ken Caminiti.

Overall, 8 former San Diego Padres have been inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame: Rickey Henderson, “Goose” Gossage, Dave Winfield, Willie McCovey, Rollie Fingers, Gaylord Perry, Ozzie Smith, and most recently Tony Gwynn.

The Padres finished 2008 in 5th with a record of 63-99. Can they make it back to the top of the division? Get your San Diego Padres tickets now and find out!
