Villanova University Wildcats Tickets Information

The Villanova Wildcats are one of 16 teams in the Big East Conference - along with the Cincinnati Bearcats, Connecticut Huskies, DePaul Blue Demons, Georgetown Hoyas, Louisville Cardinals, Marquette Golden Eagles, Nortre Dame Fighting Irish, Pittsburgh Panthers, Providence Friars, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, St. John's Red Storm, Seton Hall Pirates, USF Bulls, Syracuse Orange, and West Virginia Mountaineers.

The Villanova Wildcats are the National College Athletic Association (NCAA) men's football and basketball team for Villanova University in Radnor Township, Pennsylvania, one of 9 private universities and one of 8 Catholic universities in the Big East.

The Villanova Wildcats play their football home games at the 12,500 seat Villanova Stadium, and their basketball home games at the 6,500 seat The Pavilion, except for certain games considered "high-profile" that are instead played at the 21,600 seat Wachovia Center of Wachovia Spectrum. The team uniform colors are blue and white, and the mascot is, predictably, the Wildcat (though it used to be the "Pelicans" and "Day Hops").

Football:

The Villanova Wildcats football team plays in the Colonial Athletic Association. At one time, the program was considered a well-renowned Division I-A program but dropped their football program altogether in 1980. In 1985, the football program was resurrected in Division I-AA. Since then, they have appeared in the Division I FCS playoffs 7 times.

They are currently coached by Andy Talley and have produced pro bowl-calibre players such as Howie Long, formerly of the Oakland Raiders, and Brian Westbrook of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Basketball:

The Wildcats are part of the renowned Philadelphia Big 5, a fierce basketball rivalry between Villanova and other Philadelphia teams: the Drexel Dragons of Drexel University, the Penn Quakers of the University of Pennsylvania, the Temple Owls of Temple University, the St. Joseph's Hawks of Saint Joseph's University, and the La Salle Explorers of La Salle University. Villanova is the only participant in this long-standing rivalry located outside the Philadelphia city limits. The most heated game of the annual rivalry is called the Holy War and is between the Wildcats and the Explorers.

The Villanova Wildcats have a number of school heroes in their previous rosters including the following who are currently playing in the NBA (National Basketball Association): Malik Allen (Denver Nuggets), Randy Foye (Washington Wizards), Kyle Lowry (Houston Rockets), and Tim Thomas (Dallas Mavericks).

The Villanova Wildcats have won 1 Big East tournament title and 3 Big East regular season titles. They have made 30 NCAA Championship appearances and 17 NIT (National Invitation Tournament) appearances. They won the NCAA championship in 1985.

Currently in his 9th season with the team (since 2001), the Villanova Wildcats have been coached by Jay Wright, formerly head coach of the Hofstra Pride (with a 7-year record of 122-85) and a 4-year letterman on the Bucknell Bison. With Villanova, he has achieved an overall record of 178-90.

In 2008-09, the Villanova Wildcats finished with a 13-5 record in the Big East and 30-8 in the NCAA. Get your Villanova Wildcats tickets now and see if they can keep their winning record going strong.
