University of Virginia Cavaliers Tickets Information

Virginia was admitted to the ACC late in 1953, the same year the conference was founded by the 7 Charter Members - Clemson, Duke, Maryland, NC State, North Carolina, South Carolina (which left in 1971 to join the Southeastern Conference), and Wake Forest

All of Virginia's intercollegiate varsity teams, including their NCAA football and men's basketball teams, are called the Cavaliers. The Virginia Cavaliers football stadium is the 61,500 capacity Carl Smith Center, Home to David A. Harrison III Field at Scott Stadium, and its basketball arena is the 15,000 capacity John Paul Jones Arena. Their school colors are navy blue and orange.

Neighbors often make the best rivals and that's nowhere more evident than in Virginia. In the Commonwealth Challenge, the Virginia Cavaliers and in-state rivals the Virginia Tech Hokies vie in all sports for the Commonwealth Cup.

Football:

With a history that dates back to 1888, The Virginia Cavaliers football team was declared ACC co-champions twice: once in 1989 (along with the Duke Blue Devils) and again in 1995 (with the Florida State Seminoles). As of the start of the 2006-07 season, the Cavaliers have played in 16 Bowl games (though they've only won 7).

The Virginia Cavaliers have several other ongoing football rivalries, including one known as 41-38 with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Another, with the North Carolina Tar Heels, is considered The Oldest Rivalry in the South. They also have bitter rivals in neighbors to the north, the Maryland Terrapins, a battle with lasting repercussions on mid-Atlantic recruiting.

Twenty-nine former Virginia Cavaliers are currently playing in the NFL. Three former Cavaliers have been inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame: halfback Bill Dudley, tackle Henry Jordan, and head coach Earle "Greasy Neale. Including Dudley and Neale, 6 former Cavaliers, are in the College Football Hall of Fame, the others being: defensive end Tom Scott, middle guard Joe Palumbo, and head coaches Frank Murray and George Welsh. With your Virginia Cavaliers tickets, you'll have a chance to see up close and personal who'll be making it to the big leagues next.

Men's Basketball:

The Virginia Cavaliers basketball team has won 1 Atlantic Coast Conference championship, in 1976, and 2 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) championships, in 1980 and 1992. The Virginia Cavaliers have also made 2 Final Four appearances, in 1981 and 1984, and 5 Elite Eight appearances, the first in 1981 and the last in 1995.

At least 31 former Virginia Cavaliers have made it to the NBA, 7 of whom were first round draft picks, including 3-time consecutive National Player of the Year and All-American Ralph Sampson. Current head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, Rick Carlisle, is a former guard for the UV Cavaliers. Get your Virginia Cavaliers tickets and see who'll be next to get their own tickets…to the big time!
