University of South Carolina Gamecocks Tickets Information

In 1953 it became one of the founding members of the Atlantic Coast Conference, and then in 1991, the same year as the University of Arkansas, switched to the Southeastern Conference. It is the only school in the East Division that is not a charter member of the NCAA Southeastern Conference. It is one of the conference's 12 current members.

South Carolina's men's teams used to be called the Fighting Gamecocks and the women's teams used to be called the Lady Gamecocks, but now all 18 of the University of South Carolina’s varsity athletic teams are called the Gamecocks, including their NCAA football and basketball teams.

The South Carolina Gamecocks’ NCAA football stadium is the 80,000+ capacity Williams-Brice Stadium and its basketball arena is the 18,000 capacity Colonial Center. The Gamecocks’ colors are garnet and black, though you'll also see gold mixed in there sometimes, to represent the spurs cockfighting Gamecocks often wore.

The Gamecocks have an ongoing rivalry with a team in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Clemson Tigers, also from South Carolina. The Clemson-Carolina rivalry is legendary, having lasted since 1909 and considered the third longest-running, uninterrupted series in college football history. The major football game of this in-state competition is "The Battle of the Palmetto State". Currently Clemson leads in the football series and South Carolina leads in men's basketball.

According to Tim Brando from CBS Sports, "You won't find any more loyal fans in the country than those who follow the South Carolina Gamecocks."

Football:

The Gamecocks’ permanent rival in the opposing West Division of the Southeastern Conference is the University of Arkansas Razorbacks. Their primary rival within the SEC is the Georgia Bulldogs, in football and basketball alike.

Heisman Trophy-winning former quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Steve Spurrier has been the South Carolina Gamecocks’ head coach since 2004. Coming from the Florida Gators, Spurrier's switch to South Carolina seems to have spurred a brand new rivalry between those 2 schools.

Get your South Carolina Gamecocks tickets now and see what heights Spurrier and his team will achieve next!

Men's Basketball:

South Carolina has won 2 Southeastern Conference regular season men's basketball title, in 1997 and in 2009. The Gamecocks have made 8 NCAA tournament appearances. They've won the National Invitation Championship twice consecutively, in 2005 and 2006.

Former head basketball coach of Western Kentucky (2003-2008) and Wake Forest, Darrin Horn is entering his 2nd season as head coach of the Gamecocks. Horn’s teams are known for their up-tempo style of play, full-court trapping defence, and conditioning. The Gamecocks have adopted this style of play since Horn arrived.

The South Carolina Gamecocks seem to be on quite the winning streak. Pick up your Gamecocks tickets now and see how well and how long they can keep that going.
