University of Maryland Terrapins Tickets Information

Maryland is a Charter Member of the ACC, having joined in 1953 - along with Clemson, Duke, NC State, North Carolina, South Carolina (which left in 1971 to join the Southeastern Conference), and Wake Forest - after leaving the Southern Conference due, in large part, to its ban on postseason competition.

Maryland's 27 varsity teams (15 women's, 12 men's), including their NCAA football and men's basketball teams, are called the Terrapins. The Maryland Terrapins football stadium is the 51,500 Chevy Chase Bank Field at Byrd Stadium, and its men's basketball arena is the nearly 18,000 capacity Comcast Center. Their school colors are red, white, gold, and black - the same as the colors of the state flag of Maryland.

Football:

In the ACC's charter year of 1953, the Maryland Terrapins football team was the Associated Press National Champions and the Coaches Poll National Champions. They were also the national champions as part of the Southern Conference in 1951. In their career, the Maryland Terps have won 9 ACC Championships, their first that same year, 1953, and their last in 2001.

The Maryland Terrapins have an ongoing rivalry with the University of Virginia Cavaliers, dating back to 1913. Between 1969 and 1987, the Terps had a particularly nice winning streak in this ongoing battle.

The Terrapins have had notable success in Bowl games this century, winning the Peach Bowl in 2002, the Gator Bowl in 2003, the Champs Sports Bowl in 2006, and the Humanitarian Bowl in 2008. Before then, they were either the national or league champions in 20 other bowl games.

There are many current players in the NFL are former Maryland Terrapins. Get your Terps tickets today and see who'll be next.

Men's Basketball:

The Maryland Terrapins basketball team has won 3 Atlantic Coast Conference championships, its first in 1958 and its last in 2004. They've been to 2 consecutive Final Fours, in 2001 and 2002. And they were the NCAA national champions in 2002.

The Maryland Terps have an intense ongoing basketball rivalry with the Duke Blue Devils.

The Terrapins have seen more than 30 of their number make it to the NBA, still active among them: Steve Blake of the Portland Trail Blazers, Juan Dixon of the Washington Wizards, Joe Smith of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Chris Wilcox of the Detroit Pistons.

So get your Maryland Terrapins tickets today and see what Terps star is heading to the major leagues next.
