University of Georgia Bulldogs Tickets Information

Located in Athens, Georgia and founded in 1785, the University of Georgia is one of the 12 current members of the NCAA Southeastern Conference, and one of 6 in the East Division. All of the University of Georgia’s 19 teams are called the Bulldogs.

As of the close of 2008, all 19 University of Georgia teams have combined efforts to win 130 Southeastern Conference Championships. The University of Georgia is reputed to have one of the most impressive athletic programs in the NCAA, including their football and men's basketball teams.

The Georgia Bulldogs’ NCAA football stadium is the 92,000+ capacity Sanford Stadium and its basketball arena is the 11,000 capacity Stegeman Coliseum, named for the longest-running men's basketball coach Herman J. Stegeman, who stuck with the Bulldogs for the 12 years from 1920 to 1931.

Football:

Georgia has taken 4 NCAA National Football titles, though the school has only claimed 2, the last in 1980. They've also taken 12 Southeastern Conference titles, the last in 2005.

The Georgia Bulldogs have a fierce rivalry - known as The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry - with the Auburn University Tigers. The Bulldogs also have a heated ongoing rivalry - known kiddingly as The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party - with the University of Florida Gators, usually played out on the last Saturday in October.

Georgia's permanent rival in the opposing West Division is the University of Auburn Tigers. The Georgia Bulldogs also have an ongoing rivalry - known as Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate - with a team in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Many great pro football players spent their college years as Georgia Bulldogs, including Fran Tarkenton, Herschell Walker, Terrell Davis, Reggie Brown, and David Greene.

Men's Basketball:

Over the years the Georgia Bulldogs men's basketball teams have taken 2 Southeastern Conference regular season title, most recently in 2008, and 1 Southeastern Conference Championship title, in 1983.

Former Georgia Bulldogs player and former 2-time All-SEC forward Shandon Anderson, younger brother of Willie Anderson (one of 2 previous Georgia Bulldogs players invited to the U.S. Men's Basketball Olympic team, the other being Vern Fleming) went on to play for the Utah Jazz and 3 other NBA teams including the New York Knicks.

And he wasn't the only former Bulldog to go on to NBA stardom. There's also Jumaine Jones, who played first for the Philadelphia 76ers and then for 5 other NBA teams before beginning a basketball career in Europe.

Get your Georgia Bulldogs tickets now and see who the next pro sports legend will emerge from one of the University of Georgia's NCAA teams.
