University of Florida Gators Tickets Information

Located in Gainesville, Florida and founded in 1853, the University of Florida is one of the 12 current members of the NCAA Southeastern Conference, and one of 6 in the East Division.

All of the University of Florida's intercollegiate athletic teams are called the Gators. There are 8 men's teams and 11 women's teams, including NCAA football and men's basketball. All 19 Florida Gators team have combined forces to win the Southeastern Conference All-Sports Trophy every year since the award's inception, and they've been listed in the National All-Sports Rankings Top 10 every year for past 20.

The Florida Gators' football stadium is the 90,000+ capacity Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and its basketball arena is the 12,000 capacity Stephen C. O'Connell Center. The Wildcats' colors are blue and white.

2006 was the first season in the history of the NCAA that a single school's football and basketball teams have won national titles.

Football:

Florida has won 4 National Football titles, the last in 2008, though the school only officially claimed 3. They've also taken 8 Southeastern Conference football titles, the last in 2008 making them the sitting champions.

The Florida Gators have a fierce rivalry - known kiddingly as The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party - with the University of Georgia Bulldogs, usually played out on the last Saturday in October in Jacksonville, Florida. They also have heated ongoing rivalries with the University of Tennessee Volunteers.

Florida's permanent rival in the opposing West Division is the LSU Tigers (that's Louisiana State University). They also have an out-of-conference rival the Florida State Seminoles.

The Gators football team has been hot since 1990, with a win in the Sugar Bowl in 1996. And Florida Gators football tickets will be especially hot this coming year, as in 2008 they became the first team ever to win two BCS championships with the same coach, Urban Meyer.

Men's Basketball:

With the exception of the 1987 NCAA Tournament's Sweet Sixteen, the Florida Gators basketball team hadn't done much until 1990. But as suggested above, 2006 really was Florida's year, as it was also when they took the National Men's Basketball title. They've also taken 4 Southeastern Conference regular season basketball titles, the last in 2007, and 3 Southeastern Conference Championships, the last in 2007.

The Florida Gators have a brutal basketball rivalry with the Kentucky Wildcats.

Get your Florida Gators tickets and see all these vicious football and basketball rivalries play themselves out. And if you're really lucky, you may get to see some new rivalries form!
