University of California Golden Bears Tickets Information

The California Golden Bears are one of 10 teams in the Pacific Ten Conference - along with the Arizona Wildcats, Arizona State Sun Devils, Oregon Ducks, Oregon State Beavers, Stanford Cardinal, UCLA Bruins, USC Trojans, Washington Huskies, and Washington State Cougars.

The California Golden Bears are the National College Athletic Association (NCAA) men's football and basketball teams for the University of California, Berkeley in Berkeley, California, one of 8 public universities in the Pac Ten, and one of 4 from the state of California, the others being Stanford University, University of Southern California, University of California, Los Angeles. They are two of the university's 27 varsity teams. (13 men's, 14 women's)

The California Golden Bears play their football home games at the 72,516 seat California Memorial Stadium and their basketball home games at the 12,172 seat Haas Pavilion, built in part thanks to the Levi-Strauss family (the one and the same). It is reputed to be one of the loudest sports arenas in the conference. The team uniform colors are blue and gold.

Football:

The Cal Golden Bears football program was established in 1886 and has since achieved a 676-471-51 overall record with a 10-8-1 postseason bowl record, 2 national titles and 14 conference championships.

They are currently coached by Jeff Tedford who is entering his 9th season in charge. He boasts a 59-30 record including a near-perfect 5-1 bowl record. As a first-time head coach, Tedford has won wide acclaim in the media for revitalizing the Cal football program.

Several former Golden Bears have made the jump to the NFL including Marshawn Lynch and Langston Walker (Buffalo Bills), Nnamdi Asomugha (Oakland Raiders), Tony Gonzalez (Atlanta Falcons), DeSean Jackson (Philadelphia Eagles), Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers), Todd Steussie (St. Louis Rams) and J.J. Arrington (Denver Broncos).

The California Golden Bears finished the 2008 season with a 9-4 record including a win in the Emerald Bowl over the Miami Hurricanes. The Golden Bears have consistently produced winning records since Tedford became head coach, so be sure to get your tickets and watch them do it again.

Basketball:

The former coach of Cal’s rival team Stanford, Mike Montgomery, has taken over as head coach of the Golden Bears. Montgomery has plenty of head coaching experience, including a stint with the Golden State Warriors of the NBA from 2004-2006.

The California Golden Bears have a number of school heroes in their previous rosters including the following who've made it to the NBA: Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Sean Lampley (Sacramento Kings), Lamond Murray (Los Angeles Clippers), and Jason Kidd (Dallas Mavericks).

Of the 9 Pac-10 championship tournaments that took place since 1987, the California Golden Bears were the runners-up for the 2005-06 Pacific Life Pac-10 championship tournament, their first ever Pac-10 tournament appearance. They won 1 regular season championship as part of the Athletic Association of Western Universities/Pacific-8 (AAWU/Pac-8), in 1960, and prior to that won 13 as part of the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC). They have won 1 NCAA championship, in 1959. They have won 1 NIT championship (National Invitation Tournament), in 1999 against the Clemson Tigers, 61-60.

In 2008-09 the California Golden Bears finished with a 11-7 (.611) record in the Pac 10 and 22-11 (.667) in the NCAA. Get your California Golden Bears tickets and watch them battle for the big prize once again.
