University of Arizona Wildcats Tickets Information

The Arizona Wildcats are one of 10 teams in the Pacific Ten Conference - along with the Arizona State Sun Devils, California Golden Bears, Oregon Ducks, Oregon State Beavers, Stanford Cardinal, UCLA Bruins, USC Trojans, Washington Huskies, and Washington State Cougars.

Not to be confused with the Kentucky Wildcats of the Southeastern Conference nor the Kansas State Wildcats of the Big 12 Conference, the Arizona Wildcats are the National College Athletic Association (NCAA) men's football and basketball teams for the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, one of 8 public universities in the Pac-10, and one of 2 from the state of Arizona, the other being Arizona State University. They joined the Pac-10 in 1978, the same year as Arizona State. They are two of the university's 18 varsity teams.

The Arizona Wildcats play their football home games at the 57,803 seat Arizona Stadium and their basketball home games at the 14,545 seat McKale Center. The team uniform colors are cardinal red and navy blue, and the mascot is Wilbur the Wildcat.

Football:

The Arizona Wildcats football program began in 1899 and has since achieved a 545-402-33 record, including a 6-7-1 record in postseason bowl games. They have also won 6 Pac-10 conference titles.

Head coach Mike Stoops is entering his 6th year at the helm and has led his team to a 22-32 record. Coaching seems to run in the family as he is the younger brother to Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops. Mike Stoops coached his team to its first bowl game in a decade and came out victorious over BYU in the Las Vegas Bowl.

A select few players have made it to the NFL from the Arizona Wildcats football program but they have proven to be very formidable. Players include Lance Briggs (Chicago Bears), Tedy Bruschi (New England Patriots), Chris McAlister (Baltimore Ravens) and Antonio Pierce (New York Giants).

The Wildcats finished with an 8-5 record in 2008 and look to build on their success. Get your tickets today and ensure that you get a spot at Arizona Stadium to cheer on your Wildcats.

Basketball:

Since former head coach Lute Olsen left the Wildcats, the team has had trouble locking down a permanent head coach. From 2006-2009, the team has had four separate men at the helm including Olsen before his departure, Kevin O’Neill (2007-08), Russ Pennell (2008-09) and new head coach Sean Miller (2009-10). Miller has previous head coaching experience at Xavier from 2004-09 and his team generated a record of 120-47 (.719) during his tenure.

The Arizona Wildcats are known as “Point Guard U” by fans and foes alike. The school has produced spectacular guards and NBA players like Sean Elliott (San Antonio Spurs), Steve Kerr (Chicago Bulls), Damon Stoudamire, Mike Bibby (Atlanta Hawks), Richard Jefferson (San Antonio Spurs), Gilbert Arenas (Washington Wizards), and Jerryd Bayless (Portland Trail Blazers).

Of the 9 Pac-10 championship tournaments that took place since 1987, the Arizona Wildcats have won 4 consecutive Pac-10 tournament titles (1988, 1989, 1990, 2002). Since 1987, they've won 10 Pac-10 regular season titles. Prior to 1987 they won 1 conference championship, in 1986, as part of the Athletic Association of Western Universities/Pacific-8 (AAWU/Pac-8). As part of the Pacific Ten, they have made 24 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, including 4 Final Fours, most recently in 2001, 8 Elite Eights, most recently in 2005, and won 1 NCAA championship, in 1997 beating the University of Kentucky Wildcats.

The Arizona Wildcats ended the 2008-09 season with a 9-9 (.500) record in the Pac-10 and 21-14 (.600) overall. Get your Arizona Wildcats tickets right away and see if Miller can take his team to another level.
