Texas Tech University Red Raiders Tickets Information

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are one of 12 teams in the Big 12 Conference and one of 6 - along with the Baylor Bears, Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Texas Longhorns, and Texas A&M Aggies - that play in the South Division.

They are one of 4 teams from the state of Texas in the Big 12 Conference, the others being the Bears, Longhorns, and the Red Raiders. They are two of the university's 15 varsity teams.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders play their football home games at the 53,000 seat Jones AT&T Stadium and their basketball home games at the 15,020 seat United Spirit Arena. The team uniform colors are scarlet and black, and the mascots are the Masked Rider, a man dressed all in black with a black gaucho hat and a scarlet red cape riding a real horse (also all black), and Raider Red, a costumed cowboy that mainly appears where the Masked Rider's steed is unwelcome.

Football:

Since their first season in 1925, the Red Raiders have compiled a 502-389-32 (.561) record overall. Despite their winning record and 11 conference titles, they only hold a 10-21-1 record in postseason bowl games, although they have won five of the previous seven since 2004.

Coach Mike Leach is entering his 10th season heading the team. He has compiled a 76-39 record and has led the Red Raiders to a winning season every year since he arrived. He is regarded as one of the most innovative offensive minds in college football, and led his team to a 11-1 record in 2008, tying for first in the Big 12 division title race. Unfortunately, the season culminated with a loss against Ole Miss at the Cotton Bowl.

There are currently 14 Red Raiders active in the NFL, including Michael Crabtree (San Francisco 49ers), Zach Thomas (Kansas City Chiefs) and Wes Welker (New England Patriots).

The potent Red Raiders will take to the field this year with large expectations to continue the success they had in 2008. Make sure you purchase your tickets to cheer on the boys today.

Basketball:

The Texas Tech Red Raiders have a number of school heroes in their previous rosters including All Big 12 First Team players - Tony Battie (1996-97), Cory Carr (1997-98), Andre Emmett (2001-02, 2002-03, 2003-04; also a multiple-time All-American), Ronald Ross (2004-05), and Jarius Jackson (2005-06).

The Texas Tech Red Raiders have never won a Big 12 tournament title or a Big 12 regular season title. They have never won an NCAA Championship. In 94 years of play, the Red Raiders' all-time record is 1,200 wins and 1,159 losses (.509).

Since 2007, the Texas Tech Red Raiders have been coached by Pat Knight, who took the job from his father Bob Knight after he resigned. He has posted an 18-26 record overall in just over one season as head coach.

In 2008-09 the Texas Tech Red Raiders finished 11th in the Big 12 Conference, posting 3 wins and 13 losses (.188), with an overall 2008-09 NCAA record of 14 wins and 19 losses (.424).
