Oakland Athletics Tickets Information

Nicknamed "The A's", the Oakland Athletics are a Major League Baseball team established in 1901, and based in Oakland, CA since 1968. Always the Athletics but not always in Oakland, from 1955 to 1967 they were based in Kansas City, Missouri and called the Kansas City Athletics, and before that they were based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (from 1901 to 1954) and called the Philadelphia Athletics.

The Oakland Athletics are 1 of 4 teams - along with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the Texas Rangers, and the Seattle Mariners - that play in the West Division of the 14-team American League.

Since 1968 the Oakland A's have played their home games at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum (also known as Network Associates Coliseum). They conduct Spring Training at Phoenix Municipal Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona as part of the Cactus League. The team colors are green, gold, and white.

The Athletics have an ongoing in-league rivalry with the Minnesota Twins dating back to 1969 when both teams were added to the American League. They also have an in-league rivalry with the Seattle Mariners. Probably their most notorious and always eagerly anticipated rivalry is an annual interleague battle called the Bay Bridge Series with their Bay Area, California neighbors, the San Francisco Giants.

One of Major League Baseball's most consistently successful teams, the Oakland Athletics have won 1 Wild Card Berth (in 2001), 14 Western Division titles (their first in 1971, their last just this past 2006 season), and 15 American League pennants (their first in 1902, their last in 1990). Between 1905 and 2008, they've competed in 23 playoffs.

They've played in 14 World Series and won 9, their first win in 1910, their most recent win in 1989 against the San Francisco Giants.

The Oakland A's have a number of legends in their previous rosters, including the team's career home run leader Mark McGuire. Several former Oakland Athletics have been inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame, including 15 who spent all or most of their MLB careers with the team, and the following 4 while the team was based in Oakland: Dennis Eckersley, Rollie Fingers, Jim "Catfish" Hunter, and the inimitable Reggie Jackson.

In 2008, the Oakland Athletics finished 3rd in the division, posting 75 wins and 86 losses. Fans and detractors alike are scrambling to get their Oakland Athletics tickets to see if they can make it back to the top spot in the division. Catch your Oakland A's tickets today!
