New York Jets Tickets Information

The New York Jets are one of 4 teams in the American Football Conference East Division (AFC East) – along with the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, and New England Patriots - and one of 16 teams in the AFC which in turn is one of the two conferences in the National Football League (NFL).

The team formerly known as the New York Titans (from 1960-62), and now known fondly to its fans as “Gang Green” and “The Green and White”, the Jets have been playing football since 1960 as part of the American Football League, Eastern Division of which they remained a part until 1969. They have won 2 AFL Eastern Division championships.

The New York Jets joined the NFL and the AFC East Division in 1970. Since then they have won to 2 AFC East Division championships (1998 and 2002), but no AFC conference championships. Beyond their AFL-NFL World Championship Game victory over the Colts in 1969, the New York Jets have neither played in nor won a Super Bowl.

The New York Jets play their home games at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, a stadium they share with NFL rivals and the stadium’s namesakes, the New York Giants, and which they (the Jets) call The Meadowlands. Before taking to the Meadowlands in 1984, the Jets called the famed Shea Stadium home from 1964-83. The team uniform colors are hunter green and white.

The New York Jets have welcomed Rex Ryan as their new coach for the 2009/2010 season. Ryan brings a wealth of experience to the Jets, having functioned in coaching roles with the Baltimore Ravens and Arizona Cardinals.

A number of Jets have earned their way into the pro football history books, including the following who’ve been honored by entry into NFL Hall of Fame: coach Weeb Ewbank (1963-73; inducted 1978), defensive back Ronnie Lott (1993-94; inducted 2000), end for the New York Titans/Jets Don Maynard (1960-72; 1987), quarterback Joe Namath (1965-76; inducted 1985), running back John Riggins (1971-75; inducted 1992).
