New York Islanders Tickets Information

They also took 6 Atlantic Division Championships and 6 Eastern Conference Championships in their career. And though the team hasn't had much success since 1988, things are beginning to look up for the New York Islanders.

The New York Islanders are hoping that their young core of players will have the ability to develop into a solid hockey team that the fans have starving for. During the 2009 NHL entry draft, the Islanders picked promising forward John Tavares to restore the team’s success and winning tradition that has not been seen on Long Island since the 1980s. He joins other young players such as Kyle Okposo, Josh Bailey, Blake Comeau, Bruno Gervais and Jeff Tambellini.

The NHL's longest official contract belongs to Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro. Possibly one of the greatest moves (or worst, depending on who you ask!) for the Islanders in recent history, in fact, was the September 2006 resigning of star goalie Rick DiPietro (originally a first overall draft pick straight out of Boston University in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft) for an unheard-of 15 years. So far, the contract has not panned out. DiPietro has spent most of the last few years injured, as his surgically-repaired knee has suffered multiple setbacks. The team hopes that he can make a return to his all-star form this season.

The Islanders are currently coached by Scott Gordon, who took over the job from Ted Nolan last season. He has very little head coaching experience, but hopes to help develop the Islanders’ young roster into a contender for years to come.

The team plays their home games at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum (more commonly known as simply the Nassau Coliseum). But whether it’s for a game near their home or yours, get your New York Islanders tickets fast. They could be starting a new winning streak any season now.
