Montreal Canadiens Tickets Information

One of the aptly named Original 6, the Montreal Canadiens have captured 24 Stanley Cups in their career so far (most recently in 1993). That's more titles, incidentally, than any other North American sports team in history except for the New York Yankees (with 26 World Series wins).

And now, after 24 victories under their belts (including 5 in a row between 1956 and 1960, and 4 in a row between 1976 and 1979), Montreal Canadiens tickets holders are all asking the same question, could 2009-10 could be the year they get their 25th?

The Montreal Canadiens - or Habs, as they are often better known - have also captured 21 more Northeast Division titles and 8 Eastern Conference titles. The Habs have hired a new head coach that aspires to build on these numbers. Jacques Martin has extensive coaching experience, especially within the Northeast Division where Montreal plays. Martin was the longtime coach of the Ottawa Senators between 1995 and 2004, and is coming off a three year stint with the Florida Panthers.

Through the offseason, the Canadiens went through a major overhaul after a disappointing centennial season. Gone are former captain Saku Koivu and inconsistent forward Alexei Kovalev. Also gone are all-star defenseman Mike Komisarek and Tom Kostopoulos. These players were deemed expendable after the Habs lost in the first round of the 2008-09 playoffs versus the Boston Bruins. Prior to free agency, the Habs made their first move of the offseason when they traded for top center Scott Gomez. In free agency, the Canadiens signed Gomez’s former New Jersey linemate Brian Gionta, Calgary Flames scoring forward Mike Cammalleri, checking line winger Travis Moen, Hal Gill from the Pittsburgh Penguins, Jaroslav Spacek from the Buffalo Sabres and Paul Mara from the New York Rangers.

Despite all of the changes, you will still see Andrei Markov in the starting lineup, almost a fixture there nowadays as he's widely considered to be the team's best defenseman. Josh Gorges, the Kostitsyn brothers (Andrei and Sergei), and enforcer Georges Laraque also still remain. Carey Price, the Canadiens’ goaltender had a rough season last year and looks to bounce back and return to his 2007-08 form when finished with a 24-12-3 record in his first season.

With many promising names coming in to the Habs organization, it is imperative that you get your Montreal Canadiens tickets and watch it all happen live. See the Montreal Canadiens at their best on their home ice in Bell Center (aka La Centre Bell), formerly known as Molson Centre, in Montreal, Quebec. But even if you can't get yourself there, be sure to get Montreal Canadiens tickets for the away games closest you.
