They are one of the university's 16 varsity teams in one of the 11 sports in which the school participates.

Football:

Iowa State University began playing college football in 1892 and have achieved a 476-556-46 record all-time, including a 2-7 postseason record. They have also won 3 conference titles and have produced 32 all-American players.

New head coach Paul Rhoads is coming to a team that has recently struggled. 2008 was considered an off-year as the Cyclones finished with a 2 wins and 10 losses (.167) record. With his coaching experience at Auburn and Pittsburgh and his playing experience as a defensive back in Missouri Western, Rhoads brings a defensive style of football that should improve the Cyclones’ record in 2009.

Make sure you get your tickets to see the Cyclones’ get back to prominence within the Big 12 North division.
