Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Tickets Information

Their permanent rivals in the opposing Atlantic Division is Clemson and they have a brutal in-state rivalry with the University of Georgia Bulldogs, a team in the Southeast Conference.

Georgia Tech's 15 varsity teams (7 women's, 8 men's), including their NCAA football and men's basketball teams, are called the Yellow Jackets, though the teams have more nicknames than you can shake a stinger at, most notably: the Blacksmiths, the Engineers, the Golden Tornados, and The Ramblin' Wreck.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football stadium is the 55,000 capacity Bobby Dodd Stadium (aka "The Flats") at Historic Grant Field, the oldest on-campus football stadium in Division I, and its basketball arena is the 9,000 capacity Bobby Cremins Court at Alexander Memorial Coliseum.

Georgia Tech has an ongoing rivalry with close neighbor Clemson that has always been nail-bitingly close, less than 7 points determining the winner in 10 out of their 13 games played from 1996 to 2008. The school colors are white and "Old Gold".

Football:

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have won 2 ACC Championships, in 1990 and 1998, and 4 National Titles, the last in 1990. The Yellow Jackets were also the first team to win all 4 "big Bowls": the Orange Bowl, the Sugar Bowl, the Cotton Bowl, and the Rose Bowl.

The Georgia-Georgia Tech football rivalry is played out each year at the end of the season in what's become known as Clean, Old Fashioned Hate. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets also have a heated ongoing football rivalry - known as 41-38 - with the Virginia Cavaliers.

Numerous former Yellow Jackets have gone on to notable NFL success, including Dorsey Lewis, Joe Burns of the Buffalo Bills, Keith Brooking of the Atlanta Falcons, and Joe Hamilton of the Orlando Predators.

The Yellow Jackets football team is currently being coached by Paul Johnson, former head coach of the Navy Midshipmen.

Men's Basketball:

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets basketball team wasn't worthy of note until former Bobby Cremins took over in the 1980s and made them a force to be reckoned with, leading them to their first ACC title, in 1985, and their first Final Four appearance, in 1990. Since then, the Yellow Jackets have won 2 more Atlantic Coast Conference championships, most recently in 1993, and they've attended 1 more NCAA Final Four.

In 2003-04, the Yellow Jackets broke the Duke Blue Devils 41-game home game winning streak by beating them in the preseason National Invitation Tournament (NIT). This under current head coach Paul Hewitt, who took over when Cremins retired in 2000.

Among the former Yellow Jackets who've gone on to achieve NBA success are: Chris Bosh and Jarrett Jack of the Toronto Raptors, and Stephon Marbury of the Boston Celtics. Pick up your Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets tickets today and see who this next NBA star in the making will be.
