Chris Rock Tickets Information

Born in South Carolina but raised in Crown Heights and then Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, Chris Rock started out his comedy career in 1985 performing live stand-up comedy at Catch a Rising Star in New York City. During that time, he also earned himself some notable roles in some pretty popular Hollywood flicks like Eddie Murphy’s “Beverly Hills Cop II” and Spike Lee’s “I’m Gonna Git You Sucka,” as well as a bit role on TV’s popular hit series “Miami Vice.”

But quite possibly the highlight of his early career was being one of the reputed “Bad Boys of SNL” (along with Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, David Spade, and Rob Schneider) as a regular cast member of the notorious sketch comedy program, Saturday Night Live. While on the show, he created numerous memorable recurring characters (like African-American militant Nat X, music video program host Onski, game show contestant Kevin Stubbs, senior citizen Buster Jenkins, and sailor Young Pop) and staggering celebrity impersonations (including Idi Amin, Todd Bridges, Flavor Flav, Whoopi Goldberg, Arsenio Hall, M.C. Hammer, Michael Jackson, Eddie Murphy, Nipsey Russell and more).

It was during this time that he released his first comedy album, “Born Suspect,” and displayed his immense versatility as a performer, giving a memorable performance as a crack-addled junkie in “New Jack City.”

His comedy albums have earned him three Grammy Awards, first for Best Spoken Comedy Album in 1998 for “Roll with the New” and again in 2000 for “Bigger & Blacker,” followed by Best Comedy Album in 2006 with “Never Scared.” He also boasts four Emmy Awards on his trophy shelf, for Outstanding Writing for a Variety or Music Program and Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Special for 1997’s “Chris Rock: Bring the Pain” and again for Outstanding Writing for a Variety or Music Program for 1999’s “The Chris Rock Show.” Rock's fifth HBO special, “Kill the Messenger”, premiered on September 27, 2008, and won him another Emmy in 2009 for outstanding writing for a variety or music program.

Chris Rock’s career is nothing if not eclectic, with credits that include hosting the 77th Academy Awards in 2005. He’s played roles in numerous Hollywood hit films, including “Lethal Weapon 4,” “Dogma,” “Nurse Betty,” “The Longest Yard,” “Bad Company,” “Down to Earth,” and “Head of State,” among many others. He voiced many memorable animated characters too, in hit movies like “Osmosis Jones,” “Madagascar” and the upcoming “Madagascar 2,” and “Bee Movie.” He also had a brief stint with his own television series, “Everybody Hates Chris”.

His latest foray into skewering American politics, family, music, romance, race and class relations, is the “No Apologies Tour,” which started on June 4 2008 in Cape Town, South Africa, and after a June 29th performance in San Juan, Puerto Rico, hit the United States starting July 2 at the Tampa Bay PAC in Tampa, Florida. He also performed in Canada and finally on September 13 had a show at the famed Apollo theatre. Chris Rock has also created music videos, Rock's first music video was for his song "Your Mother's Got a Big Head" from his album “Born Suspect”. Chris Rock also made videos for his songs "Champagne" from “Roll With the New" and "No Sex (In the Champagne Room)" from Bigger & Blacker.
