Arizona State University Sun Devils Tickets Information

The Arizona State Sun Devils are one of 10 teams in the Pacific Ten Conference - along with the Arizona Wildcats, California Golden Bears, Oregon Ducks, Oregon State Beavers, Stanford Cardinal, UCLA Bruins, USC Trojans, Washington Huskies, and Washington State Cougars.

The ASU Sun Devils are the National College Athletic Association (NCAA) men's football and basketball teams for Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, one of 8 public universities in the Pac Ten, and one of 2 from the state of Arizona, the other being the University of Arizona. They are two of the university's 20 varsity teams (9 men's, 11 women's). The Sun Devils joined the Pac-10 in 1978, the same year as the Arizona Wildcats. Before 1946, the Sun Devils were known as the Normals, the Owls, and the Bulldogs.

The Arizona State Sun Devils play their football home games at the 73,379 seat Sun Devil Stadium and their basketball home games at the 14,198 seat Wells Fargo Arena. The team colors are maroon and gold, and the mascot is Sparky, an animated Sun Devil designed by a former Disney illustrator.

Football:

The Arizona Sun Devils’ inaugural season was in 1897 and the team has since achieved a 535-321-22 record overall, including a 12-11-1 postseason bowl record, and 16 conference titles.

Dennis Erickson is entering his third season as head coach and has led the team to a 15-10 record. Erickson is probably best known as being the coach of the Seattle Seahawks from 1995-1998 and the San Francisco 49ers from 2003-2004. The Arizona State job is the third head coaching position that he has held in the Pac-10.

There are many NFL players that began their careers at Arizona State, including Terrell Suggs and Todd Heap (Baltimore Ravens), and Zach Miller (Oakland Raiders).

The Arizona Sun Devils completed the 2008 season with a 5-7 record after winning the Pac-10 in 2007. They look to replicate the 2007 season this year so be sure you have your tickets.

Basketball:

Currently head coach of the Arizona State Sun Devils is Herb Sendek, former 3-year Carnegie Mellon letterman and former head coach of North Carolina State University and Miami University (Ohio). In the 5 seasons prior to 2006-07, coach Sendek's Wolfpack beat 7 of the last 8 NCAA champions. In his 16 years as a head coach, he has generated an overall record of 308-201 (.605), including a 54-47 (.535) record since becoming coach of the Sun Devils three years ago.

The ASU Sun Devils have a number of school heroes in their previous rosters including 34 former players who've made it to the NBA, such as: Byron Scott (Los Angeles Lakers), Lafayette Lever (Dallas Mavericks, and others), Tommy Smith (Chicago Bulls), Ike Diogu (Indiana Pacers, Golden State Warriors), Eddie House (Phoenix Suns, and others).

Of the Pac-10 championship tournaments that took place since 1987, the Arizona State Sun Devils have yet to win a Pac-10 tournament title. Nor have they ever won a Pac-10 regular season title. They have, however, made 11 NCAA appearances, including every year between 1961 and 1964, and most recently in 2009 when they got as far as the second round before getting eliminated by Syracuse . They have yet to win an NIT championship (National Invitation Tournament).

In 2008-09 the Arizona State Sun Devils finished with a 11-7 (.611) record in the Pac 10 and 25-10 (.714) in the NCAA. The heat is on. Get your Arizona State Sun Devils tickets before March Madness has come and gone.
