Aerosmith Tickets Information

It’s been an impressive 36 years since Aerosmith released their first album, Aerosmith, and the five-man band doesn’t seem to be running out of steam. With more than a dozen albums and a handful of greatest hits packages (their first greatest hits compilation hit the stands in 1980; the latest, "Devil’s Got a New Disguise", was released in 2006).

It didn’t take long for the band to settle into their reputation as America’s favorite rock band, heating up massive stadiums from the 1970s right through today. Perhaps their notorious guitarist Joe Perry sums it up best: “We were America’s band, we were the garage band that made it really big – the ultimate party band. We were the guys who you could actually see. Back then in the ’70s, it wasn’t like Led Zeppelin was out there on the road in America all the time. The Stones weren’t always coming to your town. We were. You could count on us to come by.” Or maybe the critics at allmusic.com got it right: “Aerosmith was one of the most popular hard rock bands of the ’70s, setting the style and sound of hard rock and heavy metal for the next two decades with their raunchy, bluesy swagger.” Aerosmith are given much credit for both their power ballads and their arena rock.

Apparently, not much has changed. Aerosmith are still a full-tilt party band and, as their summer plans demonstrate, they still want to come to your town. (They like their fans so much they once paid $3,650 in bail money to free 52 fans who violated a no smoking ordinance during a show in Ft. Wayne,Indiana.) But, like any great rock ‘n’ roll story, there were plenty of bumps along the way. Internal strife saw Joe Perry and Brad Whitford leave the band and launch solo projects. Eventually both found their way back, the inspiration behind the band’s 1985 Back in the Saddle tour. There were car accidents, issues with rockstar behavior, alcohol, drugs and the other trappings of stardom. Indeed, the early-80s were a mess of alcohol and drugs, but the band came back from the brink and launched one of the great rock comebacks of all time in the mid-80s. Some would say the band has never faltered in its mission to entertain and energize.

Think of the hits: from 70s gems like “Dream On,” “Walk This Way,” “Sweet Emotion” to unforgettable 80s hits like “Dude Looks like a Lady,” “Ragdoll,” “Angel,” and the collaboration with RUN-DMC for a version of “Walk This Way.” And they were still rolling them out through the 90s with “Love in an Elevator,” “Janie’s Got a Gun,” “The Other Side,” “Cryin’” and more. Word is the band is hard at work on another CD of original songs – their first non-covers disc since 2001 – but Steven Tyler’s bout with pneumonia, Joe Perry’s knee surgery and the current tour delayed the process.

Hard to complain, when a night with Aerosmith and ZZTop is on the horizon! Lead singer Steven Tyler, guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford, bassist Tom Hamilton and drummer Joey Kramer are the past and current core of Aerosmith. Don’t miss your chance to rock with them live, in a town near you. American and Canadian concert dates have been announced; watch for more in South American, Europe and Japan. This is a big one.
